After a project of making a cutting-board style workbench for my In 2017 I created a cutting-board style workbench for my garage. and I had discovered a problem:
I was left with hundreds of offcuts that would soon be heading for the trash.
Something about that didn’t sit right.
I knew I had to put those leftover cuts to good use. And after some trial and error, I created a one-of-a-kind headboard for my bed. This sparked the idea that beautiful creations could come from “leftovers”- and others I showed seemed to agree.
Fast forward: I’m now obsessed with searching for leftover wood materials from job sites, scrap piles, donations- you name it. There’s something special about creating custom art pieces from “junk”. The weirder the better.
My wife Casey helps in everything from color and design consultation to photography. Our son, Shepard, isn’t quite old enough to help but I have him in “training” (he’s really good at holding the long wood pieces).
What makes our artwork unique is that they’re a true representation of the PNW. Not only is the wood local, we draw inspiration from coffee, local treasures to Spokane/CDA, and the nature that our Creator has blessed us with.
We make all of our items by hand in our garage in Otis Orchards. Our space is anything but fancy. But, we have an eye for creating unique art and push ourselves to think differently with each new piece.
These art pieces represent our passion for the “leftovers”.
